Babak Mohajer, MD, PC
Dr. Babak Mohajer is a board-certified Gastroenterologist who has cared for
patients in private practice since 2000.
Dr. Mohajer grew up in New York City and Tehran, attending the United
Nations International School on the lower east side of Manhattan.
He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin,
and then returned to New York to serve his residency in
Internal Medicine at
Beth Israel Medical Center
, earning the distinction of Chief Resident in his final year
of Internal Medicine training.
Following his residency, Dr. Mohajer served a three-year fellowship in
Gastroenterology at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Mohajer returned to New York in 2000 and joined Gramercy Park
Physicians, where he practiced Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology for
more than 10
years. In 2011, he began his own private practice at 155 5th Avenue,
and in 2016 he moved his practice to 20 West 20th Street in the Flatiron
District.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Mohajer has also served as
Associate Attending in Medicine at the Beth Israel Medical Center since
2000 and has been awarded "Outstanding Teacher of Internal Medicine"
by Beth Israel.
Dr. Mohajer is a member of the
American Gastroenterology Association
and American Society of Gastroenterology. His research has been
presented at the Digestive Disease Week Conference and at the annual
meeting of the American College of Gastroenterologists. His research also
has been published in Frontiers of Bioscience.
Dr. Mohajer ranks very highly by national gastroenterology quality
indicators. His Adenoma Detection Rate is 41% for 2015, well above the
recommendation from professional societies of 25% for males and 15%
for females. Additionally, his average withdrawal time for negative
screening colonoscopy over 12 minutes, almost twice as long as the
recommended average of six minutes.
Dr. Mohajer is also highly rated by his patients, earning 5-star
